Don't know if you've tried vWorker.com (formerly rentacoder). The escrow programme is fantastic. Also, one of the ways I use vWorker is to research old projects to get a feel for the project price as well, I can see who was bidding. At this point you can simply private hire the coder or start an exact project and invite the coders you wish to use. You know, something interesting that I concluded from your article is how bad the “outsourced agent” is doing the work for those people who outsource.

What do I mean with this? Let me give a you an example: you listed 5 steps, and what is really interesting from all those steps is that every designer should have already incorporated to their work methodology the same steps, but in a “reasearch way”.
